Hope For Peace in a Troubled World

Song Share Saturday

One sunny day last September, on Mount Desert Island I went prayer walking in the woods. Hearing the state of the world on NPR that morning, I found myself without words, unable to sit still. As I walked along, many of the choral arrangements Shir Joy Chorus has sung of the prayer Oseh Shalom came to me, but none fit my mood. I needed to connect with movement, with potential change, with a glimmer of hope. I needed to connect with Spirit in action. This tune came to me as I first wandered, reflecting, and then began a purposeful brisk walk. . Shir Joy sings it with the same urgency, movement, and hope that I felt that day. The words and translation are in this video we made for Shir Joy’s March 20, 2022, virtual concert.
