Band of Voices was founded in early 1997 as a chorus "of the people, land, seasons, history, and traditions of central Massachusetts." From the start, three connections have been especially important to us.
The first is our connection to this peaceful region of small towns, fields, and woods. Our repertoire has always included New England music, both past and present (including newly-composed pieces by our own members), and we include songs about farming and nature in many of our performances.
We also cultivate a connection to those specially charged times of the year which are the Summer and Winter Solstices. Our two main concerts each year occur as close to the Solstices as possible, and we delight to sing about the seasons and the changes they bring.
Third and equally important is our connection to our faithful and enthusiastic audience, which deepens with every performance and each passing year. We always have singalong pieces in our programs, and we lay out a sumptuous array of refreshments for everyone to enjoy at intermission time.
